Background of the Study
Talent acquisition is a critical driver of competitive advantage in the banking industry, and modern recruitment techniques have transformed how banks attract and select candidates. Zenith Bank has recently embraced a suite of innovative recruitment strategies, including digital recruitment platforms, AI-driven candidate screening, and virtual assessment centers, to enhance its talent acquisition process (Olu, 2023). These methods are designed to streamline the hiring process, reduce time-to-hire, and improve the quality of candidate selection by leveraging data analytics and automation. The theoretical framework for this study draws on human resource management and technology adoption theories, which suggest that the integration of digital tools in recruitment can lead to more objective and efficient hiring decisions (Ibrahim, 2024).

Zenith Bank’s modern recruitment initiatives aim not only to fill vacancies quickly but also to ensure a strong match between candidate skills and job requirements. By automating repetitive tasks and utilizing sophisticated algorithms for candidate evaluation, the bank reduces human biases and enhances overall recruitment quality. Furthermore, the use of virtual platforms expands the talent pool, enabling the bank to access diverse candidates across geographical boundaries. Empirical research supports the notion that modern recruitment techniques contribute to higher employee retention rates and improved organizational performance. However, challenges such as resistance to technological change among traditional HR staff and issues with data integration remain. This study seeks to appraise the effectiveness of these modern recruitment techniques in enhancing talent acquisition at Zenith Bank, identifying both the benefits and limitations of the current approach (Chinwe, 2025).

Statement of the Problem
Despite the adoption of innovative recruitment techniques, Zenith Bank faces challenges in fully optimizing its talent acquisition process. Feedback from HR personnel indicates that while digital tools have accelerated the hiring process, discrepancies in candidate evaluation persist due to occasional algorithmic biases and integration issues with legacy HR systems (Olu, 2023). Moreover, some candidates have reported a depersonalized experience that may impact their long-term engagement with the bank. Resistance to the adoption of new technologies among certain HR teams further complicates the implementation process. These challenges lead to inconsistencies in the quality of hires and may hinder the bank’s ability to secure top talent in a competitive market. The gap between the theoretical advantages of modern recruitment techniques and their practical execution necessitates a detailed investigation into the factors undermining effective talent acquisition. This study aims to identify these operational barriers and propose recommendations to enhance the recruitment process, ensuring a better match between candidate capabilities and job requirements while improving overall organizational performance (Emeka, 2024).

Objectives of the Study
• To evaluate the effectiveness of modern recruitment techniques in talent acquisition at Zenith Bank.
• To identify challenges and biases in the current digital recruitment process.
• To recommend strategies for optimizing recruitment technology and enhancing candidate experience.

Research Questions
• How do modern recruitment techniques impact talent acquisition at Zenith Bank?
• What operational challenges and biases are present in the current recruitment process?
• How can Zenith Bank improve its recruitment process to better attract and retain top talent?

Research Hypotheses
• Modern recruitment techniques are positively correlated with improved talent acquisition outcomes.
• Integration issues and algorithmic biases negatively impact the recruitment process.
• Optimized recruitment processes lead to higher quality hires and improved retention.

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study examines recruitment practices at Zenith Bank over the past two years. Limitations include potential resistance to new methods within HR departments and challenges in quantifying qualitative aspects of candidate experience.

Definitions of Terms
• Modern Recruitment Techniques: Digital tools and strategies used to streamline hiring processes.
• Talent Acquisition: The process of attracting and selecting qualified candidates.
• Algorithmic Bias: Systematic errors in automated recruitment processes that may affect candidate selection.
